We all are born with a certain level of IQ which seldom can be changed. There is a huge debate if IQ can actually be changed or improved. However Emotional Quotient ‘EQ’ can be developed at any age with the right kind of training.

As we highlighted earlier Emotional Quotient is the trending concept.

Let’s discuss what is Emotional Quotient.

Emotional Quotient is the technique to understand and using your emotions in a way that will create a positive impact and outcome. Being aware of oneself and team members’ emotions, and handling them in a correct manner to provide a healthy work environment is what the emotional quotient is all about. Due to hectic lifestylesnowadays a lot of people irrespective of their age face a lot of emotional ups and downs, managing and channelizing emotions in the right way is what Emotional Quotient training teaches us. During academic years it is often seen that focus of students, parents, and teachers are mainly on developing technical knowledge. It is very little or no focus on the development of soft skills, emotional management, building self-confidence, etc. Due to this, it is often observed that when they join the corporate sector their growth is limited which affects their career chart.

Now a day’s organizations want to retain their valuable employees and hence invest and focus on employee training. Irrespective of the size of the organization, organizations are engaging their employees in intense self-development soft skills training.

Training on Emotional Quotient will include self-awareness, self-motivation, empathy, self-regulation, etc. We use interactive and practical training methods to make this session more interesting.

Most organizations nowadays have team-handling roles. When working in a team all members are expected to work in sync and to their utmost performance to bring the right output. To have all employees in sync at the same level is a challenge however this challenge can be overcome by ensuring soft skill development amongst the employees. Making team leads and team members aware of each other’s emotions, and teaching them how to handle them will ensure the team’s success.

Emotional Quotient is applicable not only internally but externally as well.

Especially in a customer-handling role. When an employee who has a lot of customer interaction is well trained in EQ, they are able to handle customers and face customer complaints in a better manner.

EQ training is advised to be done across levels in an organization however the main focus should be the managers and leads in the organization as they handle teams and often face challenges with their team members.

When a team is trained in EQ they understand each other’s requirements, level of commitment, and shortcomings and help each other accordingly to perform better and achieve success. This kind of team sticks together in the project thick and thin which in turn makes it easy for the management and customers.

Post this training managers and team members are self-motivated, able to control their emotions in a better manner and understand the organization’s and team’s needs more clearly. A team that is trained in EQ always has a sense of ownership towards their team which makes their performance better.

Emotional Quotient is definitely a must-have training for all developing and growing organizations as it develops a sense of unity and belongingness amongst the employees towards the organization.
